About Pursuing God’s Heart

What is Pursuing God's Heart? Who is it for?

“Pursuing God’s Heart” is an online community of Jesus-followers who want to know God’s heart. At times, Jesus-followers lack community–and we need it! God made us for community. Sometimes Jesus-followers only know about their own community–their way of doing things and believing things–without God’s wide perspective of his Jesus-follower communities everywhere.

“Pursuing” is worldview driven, like that wider perspective of God. After all, this is part of God’s heartbeat! He sees followers from everywhere who are his, a multi spectrum of colors and cultures, all people that he is “crazy” about. He loves us so much, he died for us (and came back to life!) so we could be a part of his big-picture perspective even in our own small corner of the world.

“Pursuing” is international. People from all over the globe are sensing the heartbeat of God! This digital community is a great place to learn a lot about other peoples and cultures, all of whom stand on common ground with others everywhere: We are Jesus-followers learning together what is on God’s heart! And then (this is thrilling!) we begin to have our own hearts beat in time with his!

“Pursuing” is “cross-denominational.” With God’s help, ”Pursuing” is where things that divide us dissolve into “help me understand.” After all, Jesus prayed that his followers would be one even as he is one with his Father! Check out Our Common Ground to see if you stand with other Jesus-followers on some core beliefs.

“Pursuing” is Christ driven love. “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another” (John 13:34-35). Because his followers “must love one another,” we know we are in a safe place, a good place to share, a great place to grow. Check our Community Guidelines to get more on how to love in this community.

Why do we use Jesus-followers instead of “Christians”? Nowadays, people have all kinds of impressions of what a Christian is, and what it is not! Most of us live in a “post-Christian world” and many don’t have a clear understanding of Christianity. Perhaps they may have heard only negative things about Christians. Sadly, there are many “Christians” who do not follow Jesus. But a follower of Jesus in one who longs to have his or her heartbeat in time with God, who desires His passion to become our passion.

If you are a new Jesus-follower, someone who is early on the following Jesus journey, or one who has been following Jesus for decades, join the pursuit. As we pursue God’s heart, let’s learn from each other, grow together, and go together!
