Pursuing God's Heart

Who do I have but you?

A morning prayer. 1:30 to read; a lifetime to live.

Who do I have but you, my Lord? There is no one in whom I could trust who could replace you, my faithful One. There is no one who could love me more than you love me. There is no one who can satisfy the deep longings of my soul but you.

I was created for intimacy with you. I was created to worship you. I was created to exalt your name. I was created to depend on you alone.

By your grace, mercy, and love, I will be satiated. Come Holy Spirit and satisfy my deepest longings. Fill me with your love. Strengthen my weary and decaying flesh that I may serve you vigorously and joyfully. Protect me from the schemes of the evil one.

I lean into your embrace, receiving you, your character, your love.

For the tasks of the day, for the opportunities to “ambassador” you, to represent you, may my words be your words. May my motives flow from your heart. May my feelings be your feelings. May I be so filled with your love that my encounters would be your encounters.

Of this I long to be aware. Not me, but you. Not I, but Christ. May I live by faith in you, embracing your grace even as your grace embraces me. Today. Every day.
